Funded Projects - Round 1

More than 3,600 carers and young carers are set to benefit from essential short breaks over the next few months. The Scottish Government, through the Short Breaks Fund, is now funding essential short breaks for both adult carers and young carers. In total 60 organisations across Scotland are receiving a share of £979,000.

A range of service developments are being supported including befriending and sitting services, carer holidays, young carer activity breaks and summer programmes for disabled children.

The Short Breaks Fund is managed by the National Carers Organisations on behalf of the Scottish Government with secretariat through Shared Care Scotland.

Further funding will be available to voluntary organisations later in the year, to either develop short break services or to provide direct funding and support to carers to enable them to purchase their own short breaks.  Further details and application packs will be available from late April for projects due to start from October 2011.

The following organisations and projects were successful in being awarded funding in April 2011.  We will make an announcement about Round 2 funded projects at the beginning of October 2011.
